Wake up to sleep and stress

In this series of 4 bespoke video modules, learners are offered insights into the breadth and depth of sleep and stress, and how the two are interlinked. The first 3 modules are designed for pharmacy support staff. Module 1 explains the link between poor sleep and stress and the impact this can have on physical and mental health. It explores how ‘sleep’ and ‘awake’ hormones maintain a balanced 24-hour mind cycle and eqips learners to offer lifestyle and sleep hygiene advice to improve customer wellbeing.
In Module 2, users delve deeper to find out how to support customers who prefer a non-medicated approach to manage their sleep and stress issues. Module 3 explains how different OTC medicated sleep aids work to help relieve insomnia, and explores which customers may require reassurance or referral to either the pharmacist or GP.
Lastly, Module 4 is designed to help pharmacists support both their team and their customers to navigate sleep and stress issues and limit their negative impact on health. It includes: which medicines can cause sleep issues; how to manage referrals; and the difference between addiction, dependence and tolerance, and how to explain this to customers.
The programme was supported by a comprehensive digital marketing campaign promoted across the Pharmacy Network, including a targeted drip email campaign and rich media featuring the training videos.
